A New Zealand technology and security firm, working with businesses of all sizes, with staff based around the country.

Since 2014

Bluehex started in Wellington in 2014. Since then we have worked on some of New Zealand's largest technology projects, and on the systems of businesses with only a handful of staff.

That range is useful to you. Large projects teach discipline: planning properly, building security in from the start, and documenting everything so it still works years later. Small businesses teach the practical side: working to a real budget and fixing what matters most first. We bring both to every client, whatever their size.

One practice, not several vendors

We deliver managed IT, cyber security, Odoo ERP, AI, software development, physical security, mobile through One NZ, IoT and technology strategy as one practice.

That breadth is deliberate. Business problems rarely respect the boundaries between IT, security and systems, so neither do we. The team that hardens your Microsoft tenancy is the team that deploys your door access and implements your ERP, which means fewer vendors, fewer gaps between them, and one party accountable for the result.

Why we run the model we do

We started out implementing key projects for clients. Scope it, build it, hand it over, move on to the next one.

What we kept seeing afterwards was the investment being passed to someone else to manage, and quietly losing value. The system was sound. Nobody owned it.

So we changed the model and took on the partial and full outsource alongside the delivery. When the people who implemented something are the people who keep it running, the investment lasts longer, and so do the benefits the business bought it for.

Who you will deal with

New business and account management sit with the people below. They are accountable for the work rather than a layer in front of it, and the engineers and developers who deliver it sit alongside them in the same practice.

How we cover the country

We have staff based around New Zealand, and a partner network in the places we do not. Coverage does not depend on which town you happen to be in.

Most of the work is done remotely where it can be. That is deliberate rather than a compromise. It means you get whoever is genuinely best on your problem instead of whoever is nearest to you, and it keeps travel and time out of what you pay. Where the work has to happen on site, an installation, a rollout, a site assessment, someone is on site.

Clients often ask where we are based. The question that matters is whether we can reach you, and how quickly.

Where the name comes from

Blue is the defending side. In security, the blue team is the one protecting the organisation, as against the red team attacking it. That is the side of the work we are on.

Hex is the hexagon, a shape used wherever strength matters. It is why hex bolts and screws are shaped the way they are, and why the pattern turns up anywhere a structure has to hold under load.

Both halves were chosen. We are on the defending side, and we build things meant to stay standing.

Standards and credentials

Bluehex is a Microsoft Partner, an Odoo Certified Partner, a CyberCert Partner, a One NZ Partner, an approved supplier on the NZ Government Marketplace, and PSPLA licensed for physical security work. Each of those is held with the body that issues it, and each is checkable.

Where our work involves a security framework, that is certification or alignment we deliver for a client, against the standard their sector or their insurer actually measures them on.
