Frequently asked questions

The questions we are actually asked, answered plainly. If yours is not here, ask it directly and we will answer within one business day.

01

Working with us

Do we have to move everything to you at once?

No. We take on a partial outsource as readily as a full one, and plenty of engagements start as one piece of work rather than a switch.

A common starting point is a single problem: a process that will not scale, a device fleet nobody owns, or a security questionnaire that cannot be answered. We scope that, deliver it, and pick up more only if it makes sense.

The problems people call us about

Where are you based, and does that matter?

We have staff around New Zealand and a partner network in the places we do not, so coverage does not depend on which town you are in.

Most work is done remotely where it can be. That means you get whoever is genuinely best on your problem rather than whoever is nearest, and it keeps travel out of what you pay. Where work has to happen on site, an installation, a rollout, a site assessment, someone is on site.

How we cover the country

Do you only work with large businesses?

No. Since 2014 we have worked on some of the largest technology projects in the country and on systems for businesses with a handful of staff. The discipline is the same at either end: understand what the business does before changing the technology it runs on.

About Bluehex

Can you work alongside our existing IT provider?

Yes. A partial outsource is a normal arrangement, and so is delivering one service line, an ERP implementation or a security certification, while someone else runs the day to day.

What we do

Why do you offer so many different services?

Because business problems do not respect the boundaries between IT, security and systems.

The team that hardens your Microsoft tenancy is the team that deploys your door access and implements your ERP. That means fewer vendors, fewer gaps between them, and one party accountable for the result.

Our services

Are you tied to particular vendors?

Our advisory work is vendor independent by design, and where a recommendation touches something we deliver, such as Odoo or Microsoft 365, we declare it and you decide who implements it.

Technology Strategy

Do you do physical security as well as IT?

Yes, under a PSPLA licence. CCTV, access control and site systems are designed, installed and managed by the same practice that runs the network they sit on, which is the point: cameras and controllers stop being the weakest device on your network.

Physical Security

What happens if we already have Odoo, or another ERP?

Discovery and system selection are available on their own, including for businesses still deciding whether Odoo is the right fit. If the answer is that your existing system should be extended or integrated rather than replaced, that is a legitimate outcome of the assessment.

Security and compliance

Can you get us certified?

We run certification programmes against SMB1001 as a CyberCert partner, and alignment work against Essential Eight, NZISM and ISO 27001 where your sector or your insurer expects it.

Cyber Security

A client has sent us a security questionnaire. Can you help?

Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons people call. The work is a posture assessment against a recognised framework, then the controls implemented rather than asserted, so the evidence exists the next time the question arrives.

Are you certified against the frameworks you work with?

We hold partnerships and licences rather than framework certifications: Microsoft Partner, Odoo Certified Partner, CyberCert Partner, One NZ Partner, NZ Government Marketplace approved supplier, and PSPLA licensed.

Where we describe certification or alignment against a security framework, that is work we deliver for a client. It is a separate exercise from a firm claiming accreditation for itself, and we are careful about the difference.

Can you help after something has already gone wrong?

Yes. Incident response and digital forensics are available on call-out, including business email compromise investigation.

Getting started

How quickly will you get back to me?

Within one business day. That applies to the enquiry form, email and phone.

Talk to us

What happens after I get in touch?

A scoping conversation first, to understand what the business does and what is actually going wrong. Assessments, roadmaps and system selections are fixed price. Ongoing work runs under a managed agreement with defined inclusions.

I do not know which service I need.

That is normal, and it is the usual starting position. Describe what is going wrong rather than what you think the fix is, and the scoping conversation sorts out which part of the practice it belongs to.
